DMACC's Mia Ruther named FPN All-American and Player of the Year

Fastpitch News (FPN) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball player Mia Ruther to the 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-American Team and she is the 2019 Player of the Year.

 

Ruther, a sophomore from Burlington, was named to an infield position on the team.

 

Ruther is the second DMACC softball player to earn FPN All-American honors this season, joining freshman Josie Swafford of Wellston, Okla., who was named to a pitching position.

 

Ruther led the Bears in hitting with a .580 average. She also had a .616 on-base percentage and a .715 slugging percentage. Ruther, who finished second nationally in hitting, had 112 hits in 193 at-bats, including 10 doubles, five triples and two home runs. She drove in 41 runs, scored 88 runs and stole 46 bases in 48 attempts. Ruther led NJCAA Division II in hits and runs.

 

Ruther's fielding percentage was .963 on 82 putouts, 73 assists and six errors in 161 total chances. She participated in a pair of double plays.
