DMACC softball team opens Region XI-A tournament against NENEB

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball team will open the National  Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI-A Softball Tournament against Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NENEB) May 10 at the DMACC softball diamond. Game time is 4 p.m.

 

The game will be the second of the day in the double-elimination tournament. Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) and Southwestern Community College (SWCC) will open tournament play at 2 p.m.

 

The losers of the May 10 games will square off in an elimination game at noon on May 11 and the winners of the May 10 games will meet at 2 p.m. A second elimination game will be played at 4 p.m. on May 11.

 

The tournament continues on May 12 with the championship game scheduled for noon. A second championship game, if necessary, would be played immediately following the first championship game.

 

DMACC, ranked second in the NJCAA Division II poll and the tournament's No. 1 seed, won all four games against NENEB, ICCC and SWCC during the regular season. The Bears ended the season at 43-6 overall and 26-2 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), winning their second consecutive league championship.

 

The Region XI-A champion will advance to the NJCAA District G Softball Tournament May 15 and 16 at the home of the Region XI-A champion.
