Sophomore Molly Jacobsen of Adel tossed another perfect game as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball team swept a doubleheader from Kirkwood Community College (KCC) April 25 at the DMACC softball diamond.

Jacobsen's perfect game came in the opener, won by the Bears, 8-0, in five innings. DMACC took the nightcap by a 6-0 score. The Bears are the No. 1-ranked team in the National Junior College Athletic Conference (NJCAA) Division II poll. KCC is ranked fifth and was ranked second when DMACC swept a doubleheader from the Eagles April 11 at Cedar Rapids.

The wins improve DMACC's record to 36-0 for the season and 18-0 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

Jacobsen improved to 18-0 in winning the opener. She threw 73 pitches, including 50 strikes, and struck out eight batters.

Jacobsen helped her own cause with two hits and two runs batted in. Freshman Kaisha Wells of Topeka, Kan., also drove in a pair of runs and sophomore Bre Hunter of Boone and freshmen Mia Ruther of Burlington and Kelsey Hora of Ainsworth joined Jacobsen with two hits apiece in the win. The Bears took a 3-0 lead in the first, added three more runs in the fourth and ended the game with a two-run rally in the fifth.

Sophomore Gabby Schnathorst of Carlisle scattered six hits, struck out seven and walked two in DMACC's win in the second game. The Bears got a pair of RBIs from freshman Ellie Dixon of Iowa City and Hunter had two hits. DMACC opened up a 2-0 lead in the second and tallied four times in the third to come away with the win.

The DMACC softball team closes out the regular season with doubleheaders against Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) and North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) on April 28 and 29. The Bears will face ILCC April 28 at Estherville and will play NIACC April 29 at Mason City.
