DMACC men's cross country team finishes seventh in NJCAA Region XI Championship

Freshman Anthony Rodriguez of Des Moines finished 16th overall as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's cross country team placed seventh in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Championship October 25 at Ottumwa.

 

Rodriguez posted a time of 25 minutes, 23 seconds on the 8K course, leading the Bears to 172 points. Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) won the team championship with 23 points and ICCC's Awet Yohannes claimed top individual honors with a time of 24:16.

 

Rodriguez earned 2019 All-Region Honorable Mention for his performance.

 

DMACC got a 28th-place finish from freshman Dakota Rusher of Story City. Freshman Cameron Campbell of Ames was 38th, freshman Hunter Humiston of Columbus Junction finished 44th, freshman Aaron Thompson of Ames was 46th, sophomore Blake Gregory of Ogden was 47th and freshman Noah Lee of Boone finished in 48th place.

 

Rusher crossed the finish line in 26:46, Campbell in 28:13 and Humiston in 29:04. Thompson turned in a time of 29:55, Gregory posted a time of 30:01 and Lee was timed in 30:35.

 

The DMACC men's cross country team will close out the season by participating in the 2019 NJCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Championship Nov. 9 at Albuquerque, N.M.
