Rodriguez, Campbell lead DMACC men's cross country team to second-place finish in Spartan Classic

Freshmen Tony Rodriguez of Des Moines and Cameron Campbell of Ames finished first and second respectively as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's cross country team took second place in the Spartan Classic September 28 at Creston.

 

Rodriguez turned in a time of 28 minutes, 22 seconds on the 8K course and Campbell crossed the finish line in 30:35 as the Bears scored 29 points and finished one point behind Southwestern Community College (SWCC).

 

Other DMACC results include a fifth-place finish by freshman Dakota Rusher of Story City, a 10th-place finish by freshman Noah Lee of Boone and an 11th-place finish by sophomore Blake Gregory of Ogden. Rusher turned in a time of 31:18, Lee finished in 35:23 and Gregory crossed the finish line in 35:46.

 

Freshman Cole Bennett of Ogden also ran in the meet, finishing 12th in 37:18.

 

The DMACC men's cross country team will run in the Trent Smith Invitational Oct. 11 at Mason City.
