Blake Gregory of Ogden High School has signed a national letter of intent to attend Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and run cross country.
Gregory is the first commitment to the DMACC men's cross country program for the 2019-20 school year.
Gregory said he chose to attend DMACC because of the school's small class sizes.
"At larger universities you don't get to know your professors like you do at DMACC," Gregory said. "To have a personal relationship with a professor is super awesome to me."
Gregory said he feels DMACC's athletic and academic programs are outstanding.
"The courses offered at DMACC are incredible while the DMACC Bears have a competitive edge without sacrificing any academic learning," he said. "Attending DMACC and participating in athletics will help me become a better athlete as well as being responsible with my time with classes, work, and practice."
Gregory participates in cross country and track at Ogden High School. He has qualified for the state cross country meet three times and the state track and field meet twice. He was also named a Boone County All-Star Track Athlete in sprints. Gregory has been named to the school honor roll throughout his high school career
