DMACC men's golf team slips to 13th place after two rounds in the NJCAA Division II National Championship

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's golf team slipped from a tie for eight place to 13th place after 36 holes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Championship May 21 to 24 at Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth, Ind.

 

The Bears, who began the tournament with a 313, posted a 318 in the May 22 second round for a two-day total of 631. Walters State Community College (WSCC) leads the tournament at 588 and Alan Hodge of WSCC is the tournament medalist with a 143. Hodge shot a two-under-par 70 in the second round to go with an opening round 73.

 

Freshman Noah Hartman of Slater is the DMACC leader. Hartman shot a 74 in the second round and his two-day total of 153 finds him in 26th place. Sophomore Kolby Chup of Des Moines is tied for 39th and sophomore Louis Psihoyos of Dubuque is tied for 46th. Chup posted his second consecutive 78 on May 22 for a 36-hole score of 156 and Psihoyos is at 157 following a second-round 82.

 

Rounding out DMACC's performance are sophomore Dylan Scheffler of Sac City and freshman Dylan Ellis of Aplington. Scheffler shot an 86 in the second round and is tied for 98th with a 167. Ellis is tied for 102nd with a 168 after his second consecutive 84 in the second round.

 

The third round will be played today at Swan Lake Golf Resort and the tournament concludes with the fourth round on May 24.
