The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's golf team will begin the 2018-19 spring season with participation in the Wartburg Spring Invitational April 5 and 6 at Waverly, Ia.

"We're definitely looking forward to the (spring) season," head coach Chris Seaboch said. "We had a good fall. We had some good production out of our freshmen and we got some good quality leadership from our sophomores. Everybody is hungry this year to do some really good things."

Seaboch said two freshmen, Dylan Ellis of Aplington and Noah Hartman of Slater, were among the team's top five players during the fall season and he expects both to be factors during the spring season. Sophomores expected to contribute include Louis Psihoyos of Dubuque, Kolby Chup of Des Moines, Dylan Scheffler of Sac City and Tyler Wierson of Ames.

"Our sophomores really came ready to play (during the fall season)," Seaboch said. "They had average freshman seasons and Psihoyos came in a much better player than he was the year before. He became the player we really thought he was."

Seaboch said Psihoyos took co-medalist honors in the Men's Fall Preview in late September.

Seaboch said his team has the potential to win the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Championships and advance to the national tournament. The Bears were in the national tournament a year ago, finishing 11th.

"We're practicing and preparing to make the national tournament again," Seaboch said. "If we can play the way we played in the fall, I think we've got a shot at nationals. If we stumble a little bit or don't work as hard as we need to work over the next month we could get left out. So far, we've had a couple of good practices. They've got great attitudes and we should definitely be competing for nationals. We've got the talent to get there for sure."

Rounding out the roster are freshmen Ryan Cole of Ames and sophomores Drew Fielder of Webster City, Connor Shannon of Webster City and Noah Wilkening of Perry
