DMACC men's golf team finishes third in NJCAA DII Fall Preview

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's golf team came away with a third-place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Preview Oct. 12 and 13 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind.

 

Kirkwood Community College (KCC) won the team championship with a 36-hole score of 585 and DMACC finished third with 621 strokes. The Bears posted scores of 310 and 311 in the two-day tournament. KCC's Dawson Peters took medalist honors with a one-over-par 145 on rounds of 71 and 74.

 

Freshman Noah Hartman of Slater led DMACC with a 10-over-par 154 on two rounds of 77. He tied for 11th in the individual competition.

 

Sophomore Louis Psihoyos of Dubuque tied for 13th place with a 36-hole score of 155 and sophomore Kolby Chup of Des Moines and freshman Dylan Ellis of Aplington tied for 16th place at 158. Psihoyos turned in scores of 79 and 76, Chup posted rounds of 80 and 78 and Ellis shot scores of 76 and 82.

 

Sophomores Dylan Scheffler of Story City and Connor Shannon of Webster City rounded out DMACC's performance with scores of 160 and 161 respectively. Scheffler shot rounds of 79 and 81, trying for 19th place, and Scheffler finished in 20th place after shooting scores of 82 and 79.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will close out the fall season with participation in the Quad Cup Oct. 21 at Spring Valley Golf Course in Livermore.
