DMACC men's golf team climbs into tenth place in national championship

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's golf team climbed two notches to tenth place following the second round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Men's Golf Championship May 22 at Foley, Ala.

 

The Bears posted a 302 in their second round to go with a 310 in the opening round and have a 36-hole score of 612. Meridian Community College (MCC) leads the tournament with a score of 579 after shooting a 285 in the second round. Jeffrey Miller of South Mountain Community College (SMCC) is the individual leader with a 36-hole score of 139. Miller shot a 5-under-par 67 in his second tour of the Glen Lakes Golf Club.

 

DMACC was led by sophomore Alec Fuhs of Webster City, who posted a 73 in his second round for a 36-hole total of 148. Fuhs is tied for 20th place in the individual competition.

 

Other DMACC scores in the second round included a 73 by sophomore Robert Flattery of Fort Dodge, a 77 by freshman Kolby Chup of Des Moines, a 79 by sophomore Avery Fuhs of Webster City and an 81 by sophomore Parker Davison of Pleasant Hill. Flattery is tied for 31st with a two-day total of 150. Chup has a 36-hole score of 154 and is tied for 52nd place and Avery Fuhs and Davidson are tied for 85th with two-day totals of 162.

 

The tournament continues through May 24 at Glen Lakes Golf Club
