DMACC Men's Golf Team Wins DMACC Spring Invite

Sophomore Alec Fuhs of Webster City shot a one-over-par 73 to win medalist honors and lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's golf team to the team championship in the DMACC Spring Invite April 24 at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames.

 

The Bears finished the 18-hole tournament with 306 strokes and a 13-stroke advantage over runner-up Iowa Central Community College (ICCC).

 

Seven DMACC golfers finished among the top nine in the tournament. Joining Fuhs with  top finishes were freshman Noah Wilkening of Perry, sophomore Avery Fuhs of Webster City, freshman Kolby Chup of Des Moines, freshman Drew Fielder of Webster City, sophomore Robert Flattery of Fort Dodge and freshman Tyler Wierson of Ames.

 

Wilkening shot a 75 to tie for second; Avery Fuhs and Chup tied for sixth with 77s; Fielder was eighth with a 78; and Flattery and Wierson tied for ninth with 79s.

 

Other DMACC results included an 83 by freshman Louie Psihoyos of Dubuque, 85s by sophomore Dalton Huseman of Boone and sophomore Sean Vogelbacher of Webster City and 87s by sophomores Grant Waline of Story City and Parker Davidson of Pleasant Hill. Psihoyos tied for 14th place, Huseman and Vogelbacher tied for 21st and Waline and Davidson tied for 26th.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Men's Golf Region XI Championship May 4 and 5 at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora.
