DMACC Men's Golf Team Finishes Sixth in GV Viking Classic

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's golf team came away with a sixth-place finish in the Grand View Viking Classic Oct. 2 and 3 at Polk City.

 

The Bears posted rounds of 307, 314 and 297 in the 54-hole event, giving them a score of 918. Bellevue University took the team championship with a score of 891. William Penn University's Zachary Chegwidden won medalist honors with an eight-under-par 205.

 

Sophomores Avery Fuhs and Alec Fuhs, both of Webster City, led DMACC with 54-hole scores of 226 and 227. Avery Fuhs turned in rounds of 74, 79, 73 to finish 12th and Alec Fuhs finished 13th behind rounds of 74, 82, 71.

 

Other DMACC results saw sophomore Parker Davidson of Pleasant Hill tie for 18th. Freshman Dylan Scheffler of Sac City tied for 28th, freshmen Louie Psihoyos of Dubuque and Tyler Wierson of Ames tied for 35th. Sophomore Robert Flattery of Fort Dodge tied for 38th.

 

Davidson shot rounds of 80, 75, 75 for a 230 total, Scheffler posted scores of 82, 78, 78 for a 238 total, Psihoyos turned in scores of 85, 82, 76 to finish at 243 and Wierson had rounds of 82, 85, 76 to also finish at 243. Flattery's 54-hole total of 248 came from rounds of 79, 89, 80.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Fall Preview Oct. 8 and 9 at Panora.
