DMACC's Jadan Graves named ICCAC Player of the Year

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCA) has named DMACC's Jadan Graves the ICCAC Player of the Year for the 2021-22 men's basketball season.

 

Graves, a Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) from Syracuse, N.Y., and Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Goanar Biliew of Denison were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI All-Region XI first team and CoSO Noah Parcher of LaCrosse, Wis., received all-region honorable mention recognition.

 

Graves, Biliew and Parcher are members of the DMACC men's basketball team and helped the Bears to their third consecutive Region XI championship and second consecutive berth in the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship.

 

Graves led the ICCAC is scoring this season, averaging 16.7 points a game in conference games and 16.8 points a game overall. He finished third in NJCAA Division II in three-point shooting at 48.3 percent and his 97 three-pointers were the seventh most in the country. Graves set a new school record for three-pointers in a game with nine against Marshalltown Community College (MCC) on Jan. 18.

 

Graves, who averaged 4.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game this season, scored 486 points this season. He shot 49 percent from the field, hitting 161 of 329 field goal attempts. He made 97 of 201 three-point attempts and was 67-of-82 from the free throw line for 82 percent. Graves' season also included 133 rebounds, including 117 defensive rebounds, 93 assists and 35 steals.

Biliew led the Bears in rebounding, averaging 7.1 per game, to go with a 12.3 scoring average. Biliew pulled down 226 rebounds, including 171 defensive rebounds. He finished the season with 394 points and shot 63 percent from the field, making 150 of 240 field goal attempts. Biliew was 2-of-7 from three-point range for 29 percent and was 92 of 125 from the free throw line for 74 percent. Biliew's season also included 20 assists, 19 steals and a team-high 45 blocked shots.

 

Parcher scored 378 points and averaged 12.2 points a game. He shot 44 percent from the field, hitting 118 of 271 field goal attempts. Parcher was 29-of-84 from three-point range for 35 percent and was 113 of 131 from the free throw line for 86 percent. Parcher's season also included 108 rebounds, including 96 defensive rebounds, a team-high 145 assists, 34 steals and five blocked shots.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team tied Kirkwood Community College (KCC) for the ICCAC regular season championship at 13-3. The Bears take a 25-7 record and a No. 8 national ranking into the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship March 15 to 19 at Danville, Ill.
