Bradshaw's 21 points lead DMACC men's basketball team past LPT

Freshman Mark Bradshaw of Chester, Penn., led four players in double figures with 21 points as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball team routed Little Priest Tribal (LPT), 104-50, February 8 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Freshman Ryan Schmitt of Van Meter tallied 17 points, sophomore Barlow Alleruzzo of Chicago, Ill., had 15 and sophomore Demarion Bariffe-Smith of Skokie, Ill., came away with 11 as the Bears, ranked seventh in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), improved to 22-3 overall and 8-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with their fourth consecutive victory.

 

DMACC, which led 50-10 at halftime, shot 50 percent in the win, hitting 39 of 78 field goal attempts. The Bears were 10-of-32 from three-point range and 16-of-26 from the free throw line.

 

Bariffe-Smith and Alleruzzo recorded double-doubles with 14 and 12 rebounds respectively as the Bears came away with a 63-34 advantage on the boards. Freshman Willie Guy of Cedar Rapids and sophomore Ty Majlik-Autry of St. Petersburg, Fla., dished out four assists apiece and Bariffe-Smith added three assists and led the Bears in steals with four. Majlik-Autry had three blocked shots in the win.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team faces 12th-ranked Kirkwood Community College (KCC) Feb. 12 at Cedar Rapids. KCC is 18-5 overall and 7-2 in conference play. The Bears defeated the Eagles, 78-58, when the two teams played Jan. 15 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
