DMACC men's basketball team falls to ILCC in triple overtime

Sophomore Tray Buchanan of East Moline, Ill., scored 23 points and sophomore DeShawn Davidson of Waukegan, Ill., added 21 points as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball team dropped a 112-106 triple overtime decision to Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) Feb. 13 at Estherville.

 

Sophomores Dyllan Robinson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Quinton Taylor of Cedar Point, Texas, also reached double figures with 16 and 13 points respectively as the Bears fell to 17-8 overall and 5-5 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

The game was close all the way. The two teams were tied at 35 at halftime and at 72 at the end of regulation. The score was 82-82 at the end of the first overtime and 94-94 at the end of the second overtime.

 

DMACC shot 44 percent in suffering its second loss of the season to the Lakers. The Bears were 31-of-70 from the field, including 9-of-34 from three-point range, and 35-of-54 from the free throw line.

 

ILCC came away with a 50-41 advantage on the boards with sophomore Devonta Prince of Brooklyn Center, Minn., hauling in 10 rebounds to lead DMACC. Davidson had nine rebounds and Robinson and freshman Vinny Tarello of Bolingbrook, Ill., had six apiece. Buchanan led DMACC in assists with three.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will face Simpson College Feb. 15 inside the DMACC gymnasium. Game time is 7 p.m.
