Prince scores 18 as DMACC men's basketball team tops ECC, 73-63

Sophomore Devonta Prince of Brooklyn Center, Minn., led four players in double figures with 18 points as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball team handed Ellsworth Community College (ECC) a 73-63 loss January 19 at Iowa Falls.

 

Sophomore DeShawn Davidson of Waukegan, Ill., had 13 points, sophomore Tray Buchanan of East Moline, Ill., scored 13 and sophomore Dyllan Robinson of Las Vegas, Nev., came away with 10 as the Bears improved to 12-6 overall and 2-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). The Bears held a 32-24 lead at halftime.

 

DMACC shot 41 percent, making 18 of 44 field goal attempts. The Bears were 6-of-22 from three-point range and 31-of-40 from the free throw line.

 

ECC had a 40-32 advantage on the boards with Buchanan's seven rebounds leading DMACC. Robinson finished with six and Davidson and sophomore Ray Miller of Davenport had five rebounds apiece. Davidson and sophomore Zaire Swaby of Brooklyn, N.Y. dished out two assists apiece and freshman Vinny Tarello of Bolingbrook, Ill., had two steals.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will play the Mount Mercy University junior varsity Jan. 22 inside the DMACC gymnasium. Game time is 6 p.m.
