DMACC men's basketball team suffers 87-71 loss to MCC

Marshalltown Community College (MCC) outscored the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball team 49-32 in the second half to come away with an 87-71 win over the Bears November 24 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The loss was the third of the season for DMACC, which fell to 6-3. The Bears led at halftime, 39-38.

 

Freshman Tray Buchanan of East Moline, Ill., led four DMACC players in double figures with a game-high 26 points. Sophomore Dyllan Robinson of Las Vegas, Nev., scored 20 points and sophomores DeShawn Davidson of Waukegan, Ill., and Ray Miller of Davenport finished with 10 points apiece.

 

The Bears shot 39 percent, hitting 25 of 65 field goal attempts. They were 5-of-19 from three-point range and 16-of-23 from the free throw line.

 

MCC had a 46-38 advantage in rebounding with Davidson's seven rebounds leading DMACC. Buchanan and Robinson had six rebounds apiece and Miller and sophomore Quinton Taylor of Cedar Point, Texas, pulled down five rebounds each. Davidson and Buchanan led DMACC in assists with four apiece and also topped the Bears in steals with two apiece. Robinson and Taylor each blocked three shots.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will host Southeast (Neb.) Community College (SENEB) Dec. 1. Game time is 3 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium.
