DMACC's DeShawn Davidson named ICCAC Division II Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball player DeShawn Davidson the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Men's Basketball for the week of Nov. 5 to 11.

 

Davidson, a sophomore from Waukegan, Ill., helped the Bears to a 4-1 start this with 66 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists in three games during the week. DMACC wins came against the Graceland University junior varsity and Cloud County Community College. The Bears suffered their lone loss against Iowa Western Community College in which Davidson scored 26 points.

 

Davidson had 22 points in a 76-72 loss to Highland Community College on Nov. 13. He leads ICCAC Division II in scoring with a 21.6 average and is tied for fourth in rebounding with a 7.8 average.

 

Davidson is shooting 46 percent for the season, having made 39 of 85 field goal attempts. He is 10-of-24 from three-point range and 20-of-25 from the free throw line. His season also includes 39 rebounds, including 32 defensive rebounds, 11 assists and three steals.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will host the Baymont Inn & Suites Classic Nov. 16 and 17 inside the DMACC gymnasium. The Bears will play County Upper Academy (CUA) on Nov. 16 and will face Metropolitan Community College (MCC) on Nov. 17.
