DMACC men's basketball team tops Graceland JV for third win

Freshman Tray Buchanan of East Moline, Ill., led four players in double figures with 24 points as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball team improved to 3-0 for the season with a 93-46 win over the Graceland University junior varsity (GUJV) November 6 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Sophomore DeShawn Davidson of Waukegan, Ill., scored 17 points and freshman Dyllan Robinson of Las Vegas, Nev., and sophomore Ray Miller of Davenport scored 12 and 10 points respectively. The Bears opened up a 47-24 advantage at halftime and coasted to the win in the second half, leading by as many as 52 points.

 

Buchanan drained nine of 13 field goal attempts, including 4-of-6 from three-three-point range, as DMACC shot 50 percent in the win. The Bears were 28-of-76 from the field, 6-of-19 from three-point range and made 11 of 14 free throw attempts.

 

Sophomore Andrew Madison of Grand Rapids, Mich., lifted DMACC to a 52-32 advantage on the boards with 11 rebounds, including nine defensive rebounds. Freshman Zaire Swaby of Brooklyn, N.Y., had 10 rebounds and Davidson, Robinson, Miller and freshman Zach Lester of Clear Lake collective five rebounds apiece. Buchanan and freshman Rashon Ivory of Perry dished out four assists apiece and Buchanan led DMACC in steals with three. Miller came away with three blocked shots.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will play in the Hampton Inn Reiver Classic Nov. 9 and 10 at Council Bluffs. The Bears will face Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) on Nov. 9 and will play Cloud County Community College (CCCC) on Nov. 10.
