Iowa Central Takes 98-79 Decision from DMACC Men

Sophomore Wali Parks of Iowa City led four players in double figures with 26 points as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball team dropped a 98-79 decision to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) February 28 at Fort Dodge.

 

Freshman Lee Higgins of Chicago, Ill., scored 14 points, sophomore Antowine Locke of Bolingbrook, Ill., had 11 and freshman Elijah Ward of Joliet, Ill., finished with 10 as the Bears slipped to 17-11 overall and 3-8 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

ICCC led 50-44 at halftime and outscored DMACC 48-35 in the second half to come away with the win. DMACC shot 48 percent in the game, connecting on 30 of 62 field goal attempts. The Bears were 7-of-20 from three-point range and 12-of-17 from the free throw line.

 

DMACC had a 36-29 advantage on the boards with sophomore Nysir Marshburn of Philadelphia, Penn., hauling in eight rebounds to lead the Bears. Locke and freshman Devonta Prince of Brooklyn Center, Minn., had seven rebounds apiece and Parks came away with six. Parks and Locke dished out four assists apiece.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team closes out the regular season against Kirkwood Community College (KCC) March 3 inside the DMACC gymnasium. KCC is 22-5 overall and 10-1 in the ICCAC. The Eagles were victorious by an 83-73 score when the two teams played Feb. 3 at Cedar Rapids.
