Freshman Lee Higgins of Chicago, Ill., scored a game-high 32 points and sophomore Wali Parks of Iowa City achieved a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds as the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball team came away with a 90-75 win over Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) January 31 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

The Bears led just 43-42 at halftime, but made 15 of 28 field goal attempts in the second half en route to 47 points as they improved to 15-6 overall and 2-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

DMACC led 72-71 with just more than seven minutes to play, but used a 14-4 run to open up an 86-75 advantage with less than three minutes remaining, all but putting the game out of reach.

The Bears shot 51 percent in the win, hitting 30 of 59 field goal attempts. They were 9-of-21 from three-point range and 21-of-32 from the free throw line.

Parks's 13 rebounds helped DMACC to a 41-38 advantage on the boards. He also led the Bears in assists with four.

The DMACC men's basketball team travels to Cedar Rapids on Feb. 3 to face Kirkwood Community College (KCC). The Eagles are 16-4 overall and 5-0 in the ICCAC with an eight-game winning streak. They are ranked eighth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll.
