Bears Defeat Waldorf JV to Improve to 9-2

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball team ran its record to 9-2 with a 74-52 win over the Waldorf University junior varsity November 28 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Freshman Eli Ward of Joliet, Ill., scored 13 points to lead the Bears to the win and sophomore Wali Parks of Iowa City and freshman Ray Miler of Davenport finished with 11 and 10 points respectively.

 

DMACC led 33-27 at halftime and outscored the Warriors 41-25 in the second half to come away with the win. The Bears shot 52 percent on the night, hitting 31 of 60 field goal attempts, including 4-of-20 from three-point range. The Bears were 8-of-19 from the free throw line.

 

Ward grabbed 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season and help DMACC to a 46-33 advantage on the boards. Sophomore Antowine Locke of Bolingbrook, Ill., had nine rebounds and Parks finished with six rebounds and six assists. Miller led the Bears in steals with five.

 

The Bears will play Southeast (Neb.) Community College (SECC) Nov. 2 at Beatrice, Neb. DMACC the Storm 84-66 win when the two teams played Nov. 4 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
