DMACC Men Improves to 8-1 With Victory Over Little Priest Tribal

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) improved to 8-1 for the season with an 85-68 win over Little Priest Tribal November 21 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Sophomore Antowine Locke of Bolingbrook, Ill., led the Bears to their fourth consecutive victory with 18 points. Sophomore Wali Parks of Iowa City and freshman DeShawn Davidson of Waukegan, Ill., scored 16 points apiece and freshman Ray Miller of Davenport gave DMACC four players in double figures with 12 points.

 

The Bears trailed 44-36 at halftime, but used a 49-point second half to come away with the win. The shot 53 percent from the field, hitting 32 of 60 field goal attempts, including 7-of-18 from three-point range. DMACC was 14-of-24 from the free throw line.

 

Locke also led the Bears to a 41-33 advantage on the boards with eight rebounds and dished out a team-high six assists. Parks had seven rebounds and five assists, sophomore Nysir Marshburn of Philadelphia, Penn., grabbed six rebounds and Miller and freshman Brandon Lawani of Bolingbrook, Ill., had five rebounds apiece. Miller and freshman Devonta Prince of Brooklyn Center, Minn., led the Bears in steals with two apiece.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team will travel to Marshalltown Community College (MCC) Nov. 25. Game time is 3 p.m.
