The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College men's basketball player Wali Parks the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II men's basketball for the week of October 30 to November 5.

Parks, a sophomore from Iowa City, scored 37 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, dished out five assists, had two steals and one blocked shot as the Bears opened the season with victories against Little Priest Tribal and Southeast (Neb.) Community College (SECC).

The 37 points Parks scored gives him an 18.5 average for the season. He is shooting 56 percent from the field, having made 14 of 25 field goal attempts. He has also drained five of nine shots from three-point range and had made four of eight free throw attempts. Parks' 20 rebounds includes 19 defensive rebounds.

The DMACC men's basketball team faced the Grand View University junior varsity on Nov. 7. The schedule calls for the Bears to play Harry S. Truman College Nov. 10 at Chicago, Ill., and to face Olive-Harvey College Nov. 11, also in Chicago
