Coach Barton is entering his sixth season as an assistant coach at DMACC where he works with the hitters and pitchers as well as serves as the team’s bullpen coach. Prior to DMACC Coach Barton was the head coach at Urbandale High School in Urbandale Iowa from 1984-2015. His overall record was 776-517. This included 10 state tournament appearances and 2 state championships.

His honors have included:

• 2 time 4A coach of the year
• Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame
• American Baseball Coaches Association Regional Coach of the year in 2005 and 2007
• NHSACA Finalist for National Coach of the Year
• Flex-A-Clay National Field of the Year
• Urbandale High School Baseball Park renamed Barton Field
• 38 1^st team All-State Players
• 99 College players
• 6 Professional players
• 2 Major League Players

Coach Barton has had great success with his association with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). These include

• 18U two time National 2^nd place finishes
• Hosting the USA Junior Olympic Team and the Mexican National Team
• United States Federation Amateur Coach of the Year
• 7 Baseball tours in Japan
• 71 Division 1 players
• 24 Professional Players
• 7 Major League Players

Coach Barton has spent over 55 years playing and coaching Baseball. The art of hitting a baseball has been a passion of his for each and every one of those years.

His family consists of his wife Pam, daughter Brooklyn, and son Jackson
