Matt Krambeck celebrates after home run

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) baseball team split a doubleheader against Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) May 1 at the DMACC baseball diamond.

The Bears took the opener, 10-9, and lost the second game, 7-5, after the game was called at the end of five innings because of darkness.

The split gives the Bears a 21-25 record.

Sophomore Matt Krambeck of Omaha, Neb., hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to give DMACC the win in the opener. The Bears led 9-4 after five innings, but IHCC tallied five runs in the top of the sixth to draw even at 9-9.

The game was tied at 3-3 after DMACC scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, but IHCC came back with four runs in the top of the fifth and limited the Bears to a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to come away with the win.

Laakso worked an inning and a third and suffered his second loss of the season against one win. He allowed one run on one hit and struck out one batter.
