Six Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) athletic teams have been honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for their academic achievement during the 2017-18 school year.
DMACC teams earning honorable mention recognition included baseball, women's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, softball and volleyball. The minimum grade point average for consideration is a team GPA of 3.00.
The DMACC baseball team compiled a 3.13 GPA, the women's basketball team compiled a 3.41 GPA, the men's golf team was at 3.08, the women's golf team was at 3.73, the softball team compiled a team GPA of 3.48 and the volleyball team had a team GPA of 3.33.
The DMACC women's golf team narrowly missed begin named the top academic team of the year, missing the honor by just .05 of a point.
